DUTY
FREE / DUTY
PAID Duty Free no longer exists for travel within the EU but you'll find Duty Paid shops at most airports in Greece. As most of the airports tend to be quite small you’ll find the Duty Paid shops are somewhat smaller than at your UK departure airport. Nevertheless, you should be able to buy the more popular wines, spirits, cigarettes and perfumes and the Duty Paid shops normally accept payment by credit/debit card. |
Cigarettes
have
the
price stamped on the packet and should cost the same
everywhere in
Greece. You may be able to buy some other items less
expensively in
resort,
or in the main town, than at the airport. It may also be
more
convenient to buy locally and pack your bargains away
securely before
getting to the airport. The
number of cigarettes you can take back in to the UK, provided
they are for your own personal consumption, is
limited only
by the airline's baggage weight restrictions. Well, that's
the theory,
in practice UK Customs can get a bit curious if you have
loads of 'em. This is the situation prior to Brexit. After that... your guess is as good as mine. See also: Smoking |
