LOOS

loo-rolls

By and large the Greek sewage system doesn't cope will with toilet paper and other sanitary items being flushed down so, while putting loo paper, etc, in the little waste bin may not seem very hygienic, it’s worked well for centuries and is far better than t'other possibility!

The maid will empty the bin when she calls to clean, otherwise just tie the bag and pop it in one of the big green wheelie bins by the roadside – easy!

In a week or two it will be quite natural to sit on the loo and throw the paper into the little bin in the corner… just as you remember that you’re back home and there is no little bin in the corner…

If you’re out and about you're unlikely to find a public toilet, nip in to a cafe or bar and ask: “Parakalor, pooh eenay ee too-a-letta?” (
“Where’s the toilet, please?”). And then sit and relax awhile over a drink.
